Sodium Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)

Chemical Structure of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose CMC

SODIUM CMC or Cellulose Gum is a water-soluble cellulose ether. It is an acid derivative of cellulose generally made from refined cotton or wood pulp with carboxymethyl groups (-CH2-COOH) bound to some of the hydroxyl groups of the glucopyranose monomers that make up the cellulose backbone. It is often used as its sodium salt, sodium carboxy methyl cellulose. It has a wide applications in various industries.
